Hosting Institute – The Beijing Language and Culture University |
Introduction: MEG partners with the Beijing Language and Culture University, also known as BLCU, in organizing CSL’s 2008 Summer Study-Abroad Program. Our objective is to provide the best studying and learning environment for our students with the most qualified teaching staff. Current BLCU students can share their CSL learning experiences and provide guidance for MEG students. Because more than half of the students attending BLCU are foreigners, MEG students will not experience unease. |
History of BLCU: BLCU was founded in 1962 and is the only international university in China with its main focus set towards teaching the Chinese language and culture to foreign students. Today, there are over 13,000 students in which 9,000 are foreigners and 4,000 are Chinese. BLCU published over 1,500 text books in diverse fields. Various educational institutes and training organizations in approximately one hundred countries have adopted textbooks published by BLCU geared towards the teaching of Chinese. |
Location: BLCU is located at the famous university district, Haidian District, where all top ranked universities in Beijing are. BLCU provides various indoor and outdoor sports facilities, as well as a performance center, library, and information technology center for its 13,000 full-time and part-time students. BLCU’s newly constructed foreign student dormitory buildings provide central air-conditioned rooms with television units, a bathroom and various amenities. [Click for photos] |

Students will be accommodated in double-occupancy rooms which strictly enforces the policy of sharing a room with someone of the same gender. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be offered daily where most of the meals take place at the cafeteria of the university, except during excursions. |
